The Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team based in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the start of their finance career to gain hands-on experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general bookkeeping, working closely with the Financial Controller and Assistant Management Accountant in a fast-paced, growing SaaS business.
Role Responsibilities
- Process purchase invoices and staff expenses accurately and in a timely manner
- Raise sales invoices and support credit control, including chasing outstanding payments
- Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and company credit cards
- Assist with month-end tasks, including accruals, prepayments, and journal postings
- Maintain accurate financial records within our accounting software
- Support the preparation of VAT returns and other routine compliance filings
- Respond to internal and external finance queries in a professional and timely way
- Assist with general administrative duties within the finance function
- Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc reporting and projects as required

What we’re looking for
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English, grade 5/C or above
- Some previous experience in a finance, accounts, or bookkeeping role is strongly preferred
- Studying towards, or interested in studying towards, an AAT qualification
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Some previous experience with Xero would be beneficial and preferred but not essential
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines
