Accounts Assistant - Motor Trade - Wakefield

Essentials (You Must Have)

  • Proven experience supporting finance operations across multi-sites
  • Strong capability in ledger management and account reconciliation
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively

As an Accounts Assistant, you will support our brands by carrying out a wide range of core finance tasks, including managing sales and purchase ledgers, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales ledger duties: posting bank transactions, credit control, and following up debtor queries with departmental managers and customers
  • Nominal ledger: posting bank, intercompany and other nominal ledger journals
  • Assisting with month-end close processes and resolving related queries on all ledgers, vehicles, sales and purchase
  • Responding promptly to internal and external finance queries, checking and paying urgent payment requests and customer settlements
  • Maintaining accurate financial records, documentation, and filing systems

About You

  • Excellent numeracy skills with strong attention to detail
  • Minimum of Level 2 AAT qualified
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
  • Experience working under pressure while maintaining high levels of accuracy
  • Confident handling queries face-to-face, over the phone, and via email
  • Previous experience in a similar Accounts Assistant role, ideally within a fast-paced, multi-site business

Working Hours

  • Monday-Friday - 08:30-17:00pm (40 hours per week)
