Accounts Assistant
We're partnering with a successful and growing construction business that is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join its friendly finance team.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a varied role supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function. You'll be involved in a range of transactional finance duties, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations, and month-end support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance career, with study support available for AAT.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing supplier invoices and maintaining the purchase ledger.
- Raising sales invoices and supporting credit control activities where required.
- Assisting with supplier payments and weekly payment runs.
- Reconciling bank accounts and investigating any discrepancies.
- Processing and reconciling company credit card transactions.
- Supporting month-end activities, including reconciliations and reporting preparation.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring information is entered correctly into the finance system.
- Assisting with supplier and customer account queries.
- Supporting the wider finance team with administrative and ad-hoc tasks.
- Helping to improve processes and maintain strong financial controls.

Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Purchase Ledger, or Sales Ledger position.
- Ideally studying towards AAT qualification.
- Good understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and general finance processes.
- Experience processing high volumes of financial transactions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Competent Excel skills.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Experience using Sage 200 or a similar accounting system would be advantageous.
