The Role

Forbes Solicitors LLP are seeking a Fixed Term Accounts Clerk to join our Finance team. This role is full time, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Based at Sceptre Way (PR5 6AW), this role offers excellent accessibility, positioned just a 10-minute drive from Junction 29/30 of the M6 and the M61/M65 interchange near the M60 network.

Walton Summit Centre is a well-established commercial hub, ideally situated for candidates commuting from Preston, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, and Greater Manchester.

During the 12 month contract, you will be responsible for achieving successful outcomes such as:

  • Manage daily banking activities including transfers, reconciliations, and client-to-office transactions.
  • Allocate incoming payments, maintain accurate financial records, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Reconciling client ledgers to ensure all transactions are correct and compliant.
  • Respond to client and stakeholder finance queries promptly and professionally.
  • Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting and comply with financial standards, policies and client requirements.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records, updating all relevant systems and records as required.
  • Support other accounting and finance tasks where required.

The Person

We will be progressing applicants to the next stage based on the candidate’s demonstrated knowledge, experience, and skills in:

Essential

  • Previous experience in accounts-based roles.
  • Proficiency in accounting and IT software, such as Sage/SAP, and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Hands-on experience of recording financial transactions; bank reconciliations, payment processing, and sales ledger activities.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Demonstrates excellent numeracy skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent attention to detail, including proof-reading and editing skills to ensure accuracy and quality of work.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and coordinate multiple activities simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral, written and via digital platforms and a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates excellent listening skills, with the ability to understand and articulate customer query or need.
  • Demonstrates excellent IT skills and the ability to use multiple platforms such as word, excel, outlook and other case management systems/databases.
  • Aligns with the Firm’s values.
