Salary: £29,000 - £33,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Working arrangement: Office-based, with flexibility around working hours
The Role
We are looking for an experienced and organised Accounts Manager to join our team in Maldon.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring our accounts, reporting and financial processes are accurate, efficient and fully compliant.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with hands-on experience using Sage 50. Sage 50 experience is essential for this position.
We understand that flexibility can be important, particularly for those with childcare or other commitments. While the role is office-based, working hours can be flexible by agreement, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional looking for a role that offers a degree of flexibility alongside a stable, Monday-to-Friday working pattern.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Sage 50.
- Manage payroll and utilise Sage Payroll where required.
- Prepare statutory and management accounts.
- Produce financial reports, including P&L accounts, balance sheets and cash flow forecasts.
- Prepare budgets and provide financial information to support business profitability and growth.
- Oversee all accounting procedures and financial systems used by the company.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Carry out daily reconciliation of bank accounts, Sage Pay, PayPal and Klarna.
- Complete monthly petty cash reconciliations.
- Manage supplier payments, including the daily processing of supplier invoices.
- Monitor supplier credit limits and manage outstanding monies owed to the company.
- Prepare, calculate and submit VAT returns and arrange payment where required.
- Ensure the business remains compliant with relevant UK financial regulations and accounting requirements.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support business decision-making.
- Maintain the day-to-day management of the company's finances.
- Support and mentor members of the accounts team where required.

Essential
- Proven experience in an Accounts Manager or similar senior accounts role within the UK.
- Strong, practical experience using Sage 50.
- Good knowledge of UK accounting principles and financial management.
- Experience with payroll and financial reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a cooperative approach.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
Desirable
- A relevant professional qualification or part-qualification, such as AAT, ACCA or CIMA.
- Experience using Sage Payroll.
