Freight and Duty Analyst/ Global Accounts Payable/ Leading Global Business / Global VAT/ Excellent Benefits/Free On-Site Gym/ Free On-Site Parking/ 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Forge Talent has partnered with a globally operating leading business who have a requirement within their Freight and Duty Team. This position will sit within Accounts Payable but will support the wider Finance Team, taking responsibility for the end-to-end processing, payment, analysis and reconciliation of all freight and duty invoices across EMEA.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and energetic Analyst with management accounts understanding and experience of the end-to-end payables process to join a fast paced and high performing team. Experience gained within a global environment is highly advantageous.

This will initially be a 12-month fixed term contract with a strong potential to convert to a permanent position.

Freight and Duty Analyst Key Duties:

  • Proactively Process a high volume of multi-currency freight invoices
  • Accurately match freight invoices to stock POs and allocate costs accordingly.
  • Ensure that all invoices comply with international tax rules and internal controls.
  • Track and reconcile postings against freight and duty accruals.
  • Regularly reconcile suspense and balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure that the payables ledger is reconciled to cash entries and postings, weekly.
  • Support the month-end close with accurate accruals and variance analysis.
  • Partner with logistics, supply chain, procurement and the wider finance teams to effectively and promptly resolve discrepancies and queries.
  • Promptly and effectively manage queries from freight forwarders, customs brokers and logistics partners.
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with suppliers to ensure PO compliance and advise on correct invoicing procedures as required.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly freight & duty cash forecasting for the senior Finance Team.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation for all transactions.
  • Support with internal and external audits for EMEA entities as required.
  • Support continual improvements, with a focus upon freight and duty reporting processes.

Freight and Duty Analyst Required Experience:

  • Previous experience in an end-to-end Accounts Payable position.
  • Experience of working in a high volume and fast paced global business environment, in an Accounts Payable/ Management Accounts capacity.
  • An understanding of Management Accounting principles.
  • Experience of freight, duty and customs or logistics invoicing processes is highly advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel skills. (SQL and Power BI highly advantageous)
  • Strong computerised systems skills – experience of SAP is highly advantageous although not essential.
  • Experience of or exposure to reconciling balance sheet accounts, accruals and general ledger postings.
  • International VAT and knowledge of VAT variances.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong and trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team in a high performing business and environment.
  • An analytical approach to tasks with a focus on accuracy and continual improvements.
  • AAT/ Higher qualifications are advantageous although not essential.
  • A positive and motivated approach to the role and working as part of a friendly and supportive team.
