Job Title: Accounts Payable Assistant

Location: Hemel Hempstead One Park Lane / Hybrid

Full-time/Part-Time: Full-Time

On-site/Hybrid: Hybrid (3 days per week on-site)

Position Summary

We are seeking an organised and detail-focused Accounts Payable Assistant to support the smooth running of our finance operations. In this role, you will help ensure invoices and payments are processed accurately and on time, work collaboratively with suppliers and colleagues to resolve queries, and contribute to maintaining high standards of financial accuracy and compliance.

What You'll Do

  • Process a high volume of invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring records are maintained in a timely manner.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and support the accuracy of general ledger and VAT coding.
  • Build positive relationships with suppliers and internal teams to resolve queries and support effective communication.
  • Carry out supplier statement reconciliations and review open receipt reports to help maintain accurate accounts.
  • Support payment processing across BACS, SEPA, and CHAPS transactions in multiple currencies.
  • Help identify and prevent duplicate or incorrect payments, contributing to strong financial controls.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share knowledge, provide support, and maintain excellent service standards.

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • You have previous accounts payable experience, ideally within a high-volume transaction environment.
  • You have a good understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • You are comfortable working with invoice processing, purchase order matching, and VAT coding requirements.
  • You have strong Excel skills and are confident working with financial data.
  • You enjoy investigating and resolving queries while maintaining a positive and customer-focused approach.
  • You have excellent attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate work.
  • You communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.
