Finance is about far more than processing transactions. In this role, you'll help ensure the financial integrity of an organisation operating across multiple countries, funding streams and compliance frameworks. From managing supplier payments and employee expenses to supporting audits, VAT compliance and month-end activities, you'll play a vital part in keeping financial operations running smoothly and accurately.
This is an opportunity to build broad finance experience within a collaborative team environment, gaining exposure to a wide range of accounting activities while developing your expertise in a complex international setting. You'll work across purchase ledger, sales ledger and cashbook processes, helping to maintain high standards of financial control, service and compliance.
About the Role
Reporting to the Purchase Ledger Manager, the Accounts Assistant supports a wide range of finance administration, processing and reporting activities.
The role sits within the Finance team and contributes to the effective management of:
- Employee expense claims
- Supplier invoices and payments
- Partner cost claims
- Sales invoicing
- Bank reconciliations and cashbook activities
- VAT compliance across more than 20 jurisdictions
- Month-end processes and audit support
Responsibilities are allocated based on business priorities, team requirements and operational needs, offering variety and opportunities to broaden your experience across multiple areas of finance.

What You'll Be Doing
Purchase Ledger
- Managing and monitoring the shared finance mailbox
- Capturing and checking supplier invoices
- Reconciling supplier statements and proactively resolving outstanding items
- Validating employee expense claims, credit card submissions, supplier invoices and partner project claims
- Ensuring correct VAT treatment across multiple tax jurisdictions
- Coding expenses, supplier invoices and partner cost claims accurately
- Setting up and maintaining supplier accounts, including verification of bank details
- Responding to supplier and employee queries
- Following up on outstanding invoices and ensuring timely processing
Sales Ledger
- Raising accurate, timely and VAT-compliant sales invoices
- Setting up and maintaining customer accounts within the accounting system
- Validating VAT numbers and maintaining sales ledger accuracy
- Proactively managing customer accounts in line with agreed terms and conditions
- Supporting effective internal controls across the sales ledger function
- Assisting with month-end sales ledger activities
Cashbook and Finance Operations
- Processing supplier, expense and ad-hoc payments
- Processing receipts and cashbook entries
- Performing regular reconciliations across multiple bank accounts
- Supporting month-end cashbook activities
- Importing travel data into the expense management system
- Assisting with fixed asset register maintenance when required
- Organising and archiving financial documentation
- Supporting non-finance colleagues with finance systems and processes
- Documenting procedures and ensuring compliance with established processes
- Assisting with year-end, statutory and project audits

Working Arrangements
We operate a flexible hybrid working model, combining office and remote work.
For this role, we anticipate that regular office attendance will be important during the onboarding period, likely 4 to 5 days per week for approximately the first six months. Following this period, the expected pattern is at least 3 days per week in the office, subject to business needs and agreement with your line manager.
