About The Role
The Temporary Accounts Payable role at Hays Accounts and Finance offers an exciting opportunity to join a well-established organization on a 12-week assignment. This position is ideal for professionals with a background in finance, particularly in accounts payable or purchase ledger functions, who are seeking to contribute to a dynamic finance team. The role involves processing supplier invoices, managing payments, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions. Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess relevant experience in accounts payable, purchase ledger, or finance administration. A strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy are essential, along with experience working with purchase orders, invoice matching, and supplier reconciliations. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively liaise with internal teams and external suppliers. Proficiency in finance systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is necessary to perform daily tasks efficiently. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage workloads effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines. Previous experience in a fast-paced environment and a proactive approach to problem-solving will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Processing a high volume of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving any discrepancies promptly to maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Managing invoice and payment queries from internal departments and external suppliers, providing timely resolutions.
- Matching invoices against purchase orders, goods receipt notes, and service entries to verify accuracy.
- Ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant before releasing payments.
- Supporting the wider finance team with accounts payable administration, including data entry and record keeping.
- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate supplier information within financial systems.
- Assisting in month-end processes and reporting as required.

Benefits
This temporary position offers competitive hourly pay of 14.07 per hour and full-time hours of 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Following successful completion of training, hybrid working arrangements will be available, providing flexibility to work both remotely and in the office. Initially, the role involves 3-4 days per week at the Peterborough office, which can reduce to 2-3 days once fully trained. The position provides valuable experience within a supportive and collaborative finance team, offering an excellent platform for professional development. Immediate start options are available for candidates who are ready to begin their next opportunity without delay.
