Accounts Payable Manager
Location: Wetherby (Hybrid Working)
Contract: 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract - Immediate Start

The Opportunity
Elevation Recruitment Group are recruiting on behalf of a client based in Wetherby who are looking for an experienced Purchase Ledger Team Leader to join their finance team immediately on a 3-month fixed-term contract.
This is a hands-on role managing a team of three Purchase Ledger Clerks, while continuing to support the day-to-day purchase ledger function. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you'll take responsibility for workloads, accuracy and team performance, as well as getting involved in invoice processing and resolving queries.
The business is also continuing to develop its use of automation and process improvements, so you'll have the opportunity to support the team through a mixture of automated and manual processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and support a team of three Purchase Ledger Clerks.
- Manage workloads and ensure supplier invoices are processed accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Remain hands-on with purchase ledger processing, supporting the team during busy periods.
- Process high volumes of supplier invoices using both manual processes and automated invoice recognition systems.
- Match, batch and code invoices.
- Prepare and process supplier payment runs.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice and payment queries.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor team performance and maintain high levels of accuracy and service.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and maximise the use of automation.
- Assist with month-end activities, including accruals and reconciliation support.
- Ensure compliance with company controls and financial procedures.
- Provide regular updates to the Financial Controller on team performance and outstanding issues.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys leading by example and is comfortable remaining hands-on with the day-to-day workload.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable.
- Experience supervising or leading a small finance team.
- A hands-on approach, with the ability to balance processing responsibilities with team management.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships across the business.
- A proactive approach to identifying process improvements and making better use of automation.
- Good Excel skills and experience using accounting or ERP systems.
