Accounts Payable Manager

We're seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead a high-performing AP team, ensuring efficient processes, strong financial controls, and excellent supplier relationships within a fast-paced retail environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive process improvements, partner with key stakeholders across the business, and play a key role in supporting continued growth.

Description

The key responsibilities of this Accounts Payable Manager role will be:

  • Lead and develop the Accounts Payable team, ensuring high performance and engagement.
  • Manage the end-to-end AP process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of supplier invoices.
  • Oversee supplier statement reconciliations and resolve escalated queries.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and financial regulations.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency.
  • Manage payment runs across multiple entities and currencies.
  • Partner closely with Procurement, Commercial Finance, and wider business stakeholders.
  • Support month-end close activities, including accruals and reporting.
  • Monitor AP KPIs and provide regular reporting to senior management.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members through regular coaching and performance reviews.

Profile

The Successful Accounts Payable Manager Should Have

  • Proven experience managing an Accounts Payable function, or in a similar accountancy role.
  • Previous people management experience.
  • Strong understanding of AP controls, processes, and best practice.
  • Experience within retail, FMCG, e-commerce, or other high-volume environments desirable.
  • Strong Excel and ERP systems knowledge (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics or similar).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
