AP Manager
London (hybrid working)
We are recruiting for an Accounts Payable Manager to lead AP across the organisation as a whole, covering roughly a dozen entities across multiple countries, several currencies, and a mix of clinical and corporate suppliers. This is a hands-on role: you own the process, you own the numbers, and you are the person the business turns to when an AP question needs a clean answer. You will lead, coach and develop a small AP team, and act as the technical reference point on anything AP-related, from invoice capture through to accruals, prepayments and GRNI at month-end. We need someone who can operate autonomously from day one, set the standard for the team, and hold suppliers, budget owners and sites to that standard.
Key responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end AP cycle across all entities, including invoice capture, coding, approvals, posting and payment.
- Lead, coach and develop the AP team, setting KPIs, managing workload allocation and driving continuous improvement.
- Serve as the reference point for AP technical questions, including VAT treatment, cut-off, intercompany, cross-border and disputed items.
- Own month-end AP close, including accruals, prepayments, GRNI, supplier statement reconciliations, aged creditor review and AP-related balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure AP data integrity in the accounting system across all entities, and maintain the supplier master while enforcing onboarding controls.
- Manage weekly and ad-hoc payment runs across multiple currencies, partnering with Treasury on cash forecasting inputs.
- Act as escalation point for sites, suppliers and budget holders, resolving issues at source rather than routing them upward.
- Support external auditors on AP, accruals and prepayment workstreams at year-end.
- Drive process and control improvements across the AP stack and the wider procure-to-pay flow.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
