Accounts Payable Supervisor
Location: Central London (hybrid working available – 1/2 days WFH)
Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 + bonus + wider benefits
Our client is a multinational oil & gas group based in central London. They are currently seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to join their friendly and collaborative finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Accounts Payable professional looking to take ownership of the function, supervise day-to-day activities, and support the continued development of the wider finance team.
Responsibilities
- Supervising the day-to-day Accounts Payable function and supporting the development of junior team members
- Taking full ownership of supplier accounts and ensuring accurate and timely processing
- Overseeing the setup of new vendors, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring appropriate controls are followed
- Reviewing and processing purchase invoices in line with internal controls and approval processes, ensuring accurate coding
- Managing staff expenses and company credit card reconciliations
- Overseeing weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
- Preparing, reviewing, and approving payment runs in line with agreed timetables
- Monitoring outstanding invoices, aged creditors, and supplier statement reconciliations
- Promptly responding to and resolving supplier queries while building and maintaining positive relationships
- Supporting month-end and year-end processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting
- Assisting the finance team with internal and external audits
- Identifying opportunities to improve Accounts Payable processes, controls, and efficiencies

- At least 5 years’ experience within an Accounts Payable role
- Previous supervisory, mentoring, or team leadership experience
- Relevant sector experience within oil & gas, energy, commodities, or a similarly complex multinational environment is highly desirable
- Experience using SUN Systems is highly desirable
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive, hands-on, and collaborative approach
