Job Description
The Accounts Payable assistant role will be supporting the day-to-day processing of supplier invoices, expenses and payments, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and efficiently, and suppliers are paid on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and accurately record supplier invoices and credit notes.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery documentation where applicable.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and supplier queries.
- Prepare supplier, staff expense and broker payment runs and ensure payments are made within agreed terms.
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate outstanding balances.
- Carrying out month end tasks including bank reconciliations, prepayments and control account reconciliations.
- Using basic knowledge to post journals using the correct double entry for each item.
- Ensure financial transactions comply with internal policies and accounting standards.
- Involvement with process improvements via automation, AI
Qualifications
Skills & Experience
- Experience of using Proactis P2P system (or equivalent)
- Experience of working in an Accounts Payable role
- Team player
- Experience of using SUN general ledger system (or equivalent)
- Reconciliations experience
- Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Enthusiastic “can do” attitude
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Analytical approach with strong problem-solving skills
- Establishes effective working relationships at all levels
- Customer Focused approach
