Accounts Payable Technician

We are currently looking for an Accounts Payable Technician to be based in Manchester on a full-time basis for a 12 month fixed-term contract reporting into the Account Payable & Receivable Manager.

Munich Re is a leading global provider of reinsurance, primary insurance and insurance-related risk solutions. This role sits within the Munich Re Specialty Group (MRSG), a division of Munich Re that focuses on Primary Specialty Insurance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively and efficiently processing Vendor invoices, reconcile Vendor sub-ledger on a regular basis to statements of account, effectively liaise with Vendors as appropriate and process effectively and efficiently the internal employee expense processes providing an effective service.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for processing purchase invoices in line with the company’s policy, including checking cost centre and General ledger coding to ensure accurate reporting. Using Coupa P2P system.
  • Prepare, process and record payment runs.
  • Deal with internal and supplier queries relating to invoices and payments.
  • Clear vendor and discrepancies balances.
  • Dealing with employee expense claims. Reviewing all high risk receipts, ensuring all expense claims are in line with the Company’s expense policy.
  • Monthly & quarterly reconciliations, including Bank, control accounts, vendor, credit cards (Audit File).
  • Producing intercompany invoices, posting them to SAP ledger. Ensuring funds received in line with payment terms.
  • Clear customer and discrepancies balances.
  • Opening & closing employee Corporate credit cards.
  • Ensure that the internal control mandates are up to date with all appropriate signatures obtained.
  • Complete and develop monthly/quarterly KPI schedules with appropriate analysis and commentary.
  • Ensure that inter group balances are reconciled.
  • Ensure all AP processes are documented effectively, detailing areas of financial judgement.
  • Pursue accounts payable process improvements, creating more robust controls and driving efficiencies.
  • Assist in other areas of the team where appropriate and any other ad-hoc task as assigned.
  • Assist the Senior FP&A Accountant with ad-hoc projects.
  • Help drive forward good conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.
