Job Description

Role purpose

The Accounts Production Associate prepares and updates financial statements using Caseware, working from financial information provided by the team, and studies towards the AAT Level 4 qualification as part of a structured training contract. Once familiar with Caseware and the accounts production process, the role develops into a client-facing position, responsible for the delivery of accounts production for a portfolio of clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and update financial statements using Caseware, based on financial information provided.
  • Perform iXBRL tagging of financial statements using the appropriate software.
  • Follow the training materials and guidance provided, and complete tasks within the recommended time.
  • Communicate clearly on the status of work, and ask questions when something is unclear.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to obtain the information needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Manage own time and workload effectively across assigned tasks.
  • Take responsibility for the quality of own work and make good use of the resources available.
  • Accurately record time on timesheets.
  • Take responsibility for own goals and targets, including study goals linked to the AAT Level 4 qualification.
  • As experience develops, move into a client-facing role, taking responsibility for the delivery of accounts production for an allocated portfolio of clients.

Person specification

Essential

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Comfortable using everyday IT systems, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to manage own time and work to deadlines.
  • Able to attend the Liverpool office at least two days per week.

Desirable

  • Previous experience using accounting packages.
  • A background in accounting or finance.

Training and development

This role comes with an AAT training contract, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to study towards AAT Level 4. Grant Thornton funds the training and exam costs, and provides study support alongside on-the-job training in Caseware and accounts production. As skills and confidence develop, there is a clear path from learning the technical fundamentals into a client-facing accounts production role.

Working arrangements

This is a full-time, permanent role based at the Liverpool office. There is an expectation to work from the office at least two days per week, with flexibility over the remaining days.
