Accounts Receivable Officer – Band 5 (EO Grade)
Location: Remote (offices in Leeds and London)
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) – 6 months
Grade: Executive Officer (EO) / Band 5
Pay: £17.85 per hour
Hours: [Full-time / 37.5 hours per week]
About the opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Receivable Officer to join a Civil Service finance team on an exciting 6-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional or someone looking to develop their career within a public sector environment. You will support the effective management of accounts receivable activities, ensuring payments are accurately recorded, outstanding debts are monitored, and financial records are maintained to a high standard.
Key responsibilities
As an Accounts Receivable Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Processing and allocating incoming payments accurately and efficiently.
- Raising invoices and ensuring accounts receivable records are maintained accurately.
- Monitoring outstanding debts and taking appropriate action to recover overdue payments.
- Investigating and resolving payment discrepancies and account queries.
- Reconciliation of accounts and financial records.
- Responding to queries from internal teams, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate records in accordance with Civil Service financial procedures and policies.
- Supporting wider finance activities and contributing to the smooth running of the team.
- Identifying and escalating any financial discrepancies or issues where appropriate.

About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in an accounts receivable, credit control, or wider finance role.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
- Experience using financial systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- The ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve financial queries.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A professional and customer-focused approach.

Previous experience within the Civil Service or public sector would be advantageous, but is not essential.
