Accounts Receivable Manager / Credit Controller
Reports To: Financial Controller
Location: Newtownabbey
Employment Type: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
The Role:
The Accounts Receivable Manager / Credit Controller is responsible for the end-to-end management of the accounts receivable function, ensuring debt is collected efficiently across multiple regions, currencies and VAT jurisdictions. The role owns the credit control strategy, manages aged debt to acceptable levels, and ensures accurate reconciliation of sales and receivable ledgers, while working closely with sales, customer service and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end accounts receivable and credit control process, from invoicing through to cash collection.
- Ability to work across different regions, managing multi-currency transactions and varying VAT jurisdictions in line with local requirements.
- Manage aged debt to an acceptable level, setting and monitoring collection targets, KPIs and escalation processes.
- Work with different payment portals and platforms such as PayPal, Shopify and other e-commerce/payment providers, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Lead month end reconciliation for the sales and accounts receivable ledger, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Set credit limits and payment terms for new and existing customers, carrying out credit risk assessments as required.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders (sales, customer service) and external customers.
- Prepare regular reporting on debtor days, cash collection forecasts and aged debt analysis for senior management.
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen credit control procedures and reduce bad debt exposure.
- Ensure compliance with company policy, relevant accounting standards and regional regulatory requirements.

Skills & Attributes
- Ability to prioritise a varied and demanding workload, managing competing deadlines effectively.
- Ability to flex communication style — verbal, email and other channels — to suit different customers, stakeholders and regions.
- Professional, results-focused approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Confident, resilient and diplomatic when handling difficult debt collection conversations.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in a credit control, accounts receivable or collections role, ideally at manager or senior level.
- Experience managing multi-currency and multi-jurisdiction receivables is highly desirable.
- Experience working with online payment platforms (e.g. PayPal, Shopify, Stripe) advantageous.
- Relevant finance/accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, CICM) desirable but not essential.
Working Hours
- Full-time permanent position (37.5 hours per week).
- Working Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 4:30pm and Friday, 8:00am – 2:00pm, with a degree of flexibility to meet business needs.
