Following an internal promotion we are hiring for an Accounts Receivable Specialist who will report into the Finance Manager working within a small, fast paced finance team. The Accounts Receivable Specialist will be responsible for customers in the EMEA, China and Rest of Asia regions. The main tasks are customer invoicing, credit control, and cash postings.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- Sales Invoicing: Responsible for the timely processing of invoices and forwarding to customers on daily basis.
- Sales Credits: Processing credit notes on customers’ accounts following relevant approval from management and forwarding to customers
- Statements: Producing customer statements following month end & forwarding to customers.
- Daily Monitoring: Monitoring of bank services & allocating cash against customer accounts.
- Month-end Close: Month-end close of Accounts Receivable ledger and reconciliation to the General Ledger
- Assisting with Audits: Assisting with external and internal audit queries
Credit Control
- Periodic Reviews: Completing periodic reviews of customer credit limits.
- Daily Checking: Checking customer accounts on daily basis for invoices coming due for payment and requesting payment transfers.
- Payment Reminders: Sending payment reminders and following up with customers on debt recovery.
- Internal Coordination: Checking with internal staff (e.g. Sales & Support) on issues recorded and confirming current status
- Debt Recovery: Working with internal teams, including Group Legal, on debt recovery.
- Month end Checks: Month end checks on cash received & allocations
- Aged Debt Analyses: Prepare monthly aged debt analyses with commentary for senior management
Letters of Credit
- Updating Records: Updating Letters of Credit (LOC) records – maintaining up-to-date information and communicating to relevant personnel.
- Checking Orders: Checking open and pending LOC orders on weekly basis
- Shipments: Arranging shipments as and when goods are ready to ship, processing LOC in order to make presentation to the bank to claim funds.
- Processing Discrepancies: Processing discrepancies on LOC documents following presentation to the bank.
- Monitoring Unpaid LOC: Monitoring of and following up on unpaid LOC

Training will be provided on Oxford Instruments Systems, Processes and Procedures.
Requirements
- 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grades A-C) or equivalent
- Multi-currency experience
- Knowledge and experience of working in a finance function dealing with a high volume and variety of data
- Experience of improving processes & facilitating change with own area of responsibility
- Experience of Excel formulae & pivot tables.
This is a permanent position based at our Belfast headquarters working a hybrid model.
