IN SHORT

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in finance. You'll support the day-to-day processing of customer payments, refunds, and direct debit collections, helping to ensure financial records are accurate and up to date. The role will involve investigating payment queries, assisting with reconciliations and reporting, and working closely with both customers and internal teams to resolve issues. You'll gain valuable experience in accounts receivable processes, develop strong analytical and customer service skills, and build a solid foundation for a future career in finance.

What Will You Do

  • Customer Payments & Cash Allocation: Support the processing and allocation of customer payments, ensuring records are updated accurately and on time.
  • Customer Accounts & Queries: Help investigate and resolve payment queries, working with customers and colleagues across the business to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Refunds & Account Adjustments: Assist with processing customer refunds and account changes, ensuring all required information and approvals are in place.
  • Month-End Activities: Support the finance team with reconciliations, reporting, and other month-end tasks, gaining exposure to key accounting processes.
  • Data Accuracy & Compliance: Maintain accurate records and follow established finance policies and procedures.
  • Finance Systems: Learn and work with finance systems and tools, helping to keep customer account information up to date and accurate.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas to improve processes and make day-to-day activities more efficient.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across Finance, Customer Service, and Sales to provide excellent support to customers and internal stakeholders.

What Will You Bring

  • An interest in finance, accounting, or business operations
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn new processes
  • Good numerical and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence working with data and using Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • Ability to organise tasks, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
  • A proactive attitude and desire to develop a career in finance
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in improving processes and finding more efficient ways of working
  • Previous office, administrative, customer service, or finance experience is beneficial but not essential
