Position Overview
Apex Skin is a physician-led, rapidly growing dermatology practice committed to clinical excellence, community impact, and strategic growth. We are seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative, and results-driven Accounts Receivable (A/R) Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our Accounts Receivable team and support the success of our revenue cycle. This role oversees insurance and patient accounts receivable, ensuring timely reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
The A/R Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership to the A/R Specialist and Collections Specialist while partnering with the Billing Manager, providers, front office teams, and third-party billing partners to resolve billing issues, improve workflows, and optimize revenue cycle performance.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in healthcare revenue cycle management, medical billing, coding compliance, and accounts receivable operations. Prior supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
Schedule
- Full-time - Monday through Friday
- 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Hybrid flexibility may be available based on departmental needs
Essential Functions:
- Lead, coach, and develop the Accounts Receivable team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee daily insurance and patient A/R operations to ensure timely claim processing, collections, and reimbursement.
- Ensure accurate charge capture and billing processes to support clean claim submission and optimal revenue cycle performance.
- Monitor medical coding practices to ensure compliance with ICD-10, CPT, payer guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee electronic and paper claim submission processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to payer requirements.
- Review and analyze denials, rejections, and appeals, partnering with the team to identify root causes, resolve issues, and maximize reimbursement.
- Monitor key revenue cycle metrics and reporting, identifying trends and implementing process improvements to enhance operational performance.
- Collaborate with the Billing Manager and cross-functional teams—including providers, front office, and call center staff—to improve billing accuracy, communication, and the overall patient financial experience.
- Serve as a resource for complex billing, coding, and reimbursement questions, providing guidance and support to team members.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare billing regulations, payer policies, and organizational standards while staying current on industry updates and best practices.
- Support the development and maintenance of departmental procedures, internal controls, and reporting to promote operational excellence and financial integrity.
- Assist with departmental budgeting, performance reporting, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent healthcare revenue cycle experience considered.
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare billing, accounts receivable, and revenue cycle management.
- Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or team mentoring experience in a healthcare environment.
- Certified Medical Coder (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding, reimbursement practices, ICD-10, CPT, and payer requirements.
- Experience with electronic practice management systems; ModMed experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, EHR platforms, and revenue cycle reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing and navigating electronic systems
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 20 pounds (files or office materials)
- Visual acuity sufficient to review detailed financial data and claim documentation
- Work performed in a professional corporate office or hybrid setting
- Frequent interaction with internal departments, insurance representatives, and patients
- Requires sustained attention to detail, focus, and independent problem-solving
- Must adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and Apex Skin privacy and safety standards
