Northampton | Study Support and Career Progression
An established independent accountancy firm in Northampton is looking to recruit an Accounts Junior or Semi-Senior with at least 18 months’ experience gained within an accountancy practice.
This will be a predominantly accounts-based position, with approximately 80% of the role focused on accounts preparation and the remaining 20% involving audit work. It offers the opportunity to strengthen your existing accounts experience while gradually developing broader audit skills.
The position would suit someone who is already studying towards the AAT, ACA or ACCA qualification and feels ready to take on more responsibility than may be available with their current firm.
The role
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Producing accurate working papers and supporting schedules
- Assisting with the preparation of corporation tax computations
- Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve routine queries
- Assisting with audit assignments, including fieldwork and testing
- Working closely with senior colleagues and managers
- Taking on greater responsibility as your experience and confidence develop
- Maintaining high standards of accuracy and meeting agreed deadlines

The successful candidate
To Be Considered, You Should:
- Have at least 18 months’ experience working within a UK accountancy practice
- Be confident and well versed in preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and small limited companies
- Be studying towards the AAT, ACA, or ACCA qualification and wish to continue your studies
- Have good communication skills and feel comfortable dealing directly with clients
- Be organised, accurate, and keen to develop professionally
- Have some previous audit exposure, although this is advantageous rather than essential
- Ideally have experience using Sage and IRIS, although training can be provided

Study support and progression
The firm offers study support for the AAT qualification and, where appropriate, continued support towards the ACA or ACCA qualification.
As your technical knowledge and experience develop, you will be encouraged to take on additional responsibility and progress within the firm.
