I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Company culture
The firm has a friendly, supportive, and team-oriented culture and has continued to grow considerably in recent years.
Despite that growth, it retains the feel and flexibility of an independent accountancy practice. Employees are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and become involved in improving the way the business operates rather than simply being given a set list of accounts to prepare.
There is a strong emphasis on developing people and giving them increasing responsibility as their experience grows. More experienced members of the team are trusted to manage their own workloads and client relationships, while support remains readily available when required.
The practice also offers a genuinely flexible approach to working arrangements, making this an attractive opportunity for someone looking for a good-quality accountancy practice role without an overly corporate environment.
For the right person, this offers the opportunity to join a growing firm, manage interesting clients, and develop into a broader client management role over time.
