Your New Company

You'll be joining a long‑established, traditional accountancy practice that has supported local businesses for many years. With several experienced team members approaching retirement, the firm is entering a period of positive transition, creating genuine scope for rapid career progression for the right person.

This is a steady, close‑knit environment where clients value personal service, continuity and trust. The team is friendly and down‑to‑earth, and while the culture is more traditional than fast‑paced, there is a real openness to someone bringing fresh ideas and renewed energy. The client base consists mainly of small, owner‑managed businesses, and the partners take pride in doing things properly and delivering dependable, long‑standing support.

Your new role

As an Accounts Senior, with strong Junior candidates also considered, you'll work with a portfolio of micro‑entity clients, with most accounts prepared under FRS 105. Your day‑to‑day work will involve preparing year‑end accounts, handling straightforward business tax matters, and assisting clients with bookkeeping and software queries. The workload is hands‑on and varied, giving you exposure to the full accounts process.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Organisation and confidence in dealing with clients will be key. Knowledge of standard accounting software packages is important, and if you enjoy building relationships or identifying opportunities to support new clients, that will be a real advantage. Hybrid working may be possible, though an office presence is preferred to support collaboration and maintain continuity for clients.

What You'll Need To Succeed

You'll have practical experience from a smaller accountancy practice and be comfortable preparing accounts from start to finish. Whether you are part‑qualified, fully qualified or qualified by experience, the most important thing is your recent, hands‑on exposure to micro‑entity and small‑business clients. Familiarity with business tax is highly beneficial.

Just as importantly, you'll have a genuine desire to "do the right thing" by clients, ensuring accuracy, clarity and a long‑term relationship built on trust. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and a proactive, supportive approach will help you thrive as the firm continues to modernise and welcome new talent.

What You'll Get In Return

This is a role where your contribution will genuinely matter. You'll be joining a stable, well‑respected practice with loyal clients and a supportive team, at a moment when fresh thinking is especially welcome. With several senior staff retiring over the coming years, you'll have the chance to shape your role, influence processes and progress quickly.
