The Company

Our client is a specialist professional services firm supporting organisations within the charity and not-for-profit sector. The team focuses on providing high-quality financial reporting and compliance services to help clients meet their regulatory obligations.

The Role

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an Accounts & Tax Manager to join their Weston-super-Mare office. This is a key role overseeing a growing portfolio of clients and ensuring the delivery of accurate accounts and tax services.

Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines client-facing responsibilities with team leadership, mentorship, and compliance oversight. It is well suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership, developing others, and maintaining high standards of service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a growing portfolio of clients.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular meetings and ongoing support.
  • Prepare and analyse accounts for a variety of clients.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support team members, ensuring effective workload management and professional development.
  • Review accounts prepared by junior staff and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist with tax computations, including adjusted profit calculations and capital allowance claims.
  • Prepare tax returns using specialist software and calculate client tax liabilities.
  • Provide accounts, tax, and business advice to clients as required.
  • Oversee the completion of statutory and compliance-related forms, including P11Ds and VAT returns.
  • Use Microsoft Excel for analysis, forecasting, and scheduling activities.

  • Previous experience in an accountancy practice environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, including Digita, Xero, and QuickBooks, would be advantageous.
  • Relevant professional qualifications include AAT, ATT, ACCA, ACA, CTA, or equivalent.
  • Ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is fully supported and funded by the practice.

The Salary

£45-55,000

The Hours

9am – 5pm Monday – Friday
