Accounts Trainee/Finance Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Trainee/Finance Assistant to join our successful Management Accounts team at our head office in Bolton. If you think this role is right for you, then apply, we would love to have you as part of the Cohens Family.

Wage

  • £15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
  • National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
  • Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)
  • 4 weeks’ paid holiday, plus bank holidays
  • Employer pension contributions should you wish to join the scheme

  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
  • 37 hours 30 minutes a week

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

In this position you will be responsible for undertaking a variety of accounts duties.

Key tasks:

  • Scanning/OCR’ing invoices/statements
  • Posting of invoices/cash
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Production of journals to post
  • To support the management accounts department on the tasks involved in the production of monthly management accounts/annual audit files
  • Liaising with our pharmacies via phone & email to chase outstanding claims
  • Producing monthly reports

Accounts or finance assistant (level 2)

What you'll learn

Course contents:

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2.

You will primarily work 4-days per week at the head office in Bolton (BL6 4SA ), and attend Bolton College (BL3 5BG) 1-day per week.

Essential qualifications

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade 9-4)
    • maths (grade 9-4)
  • Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
