Acid Etching Technician

Location: Darley Dale, Matlock
Salary: £40,000 + Shift Allowance + Benefits Package
Hours: 40 hours per week

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a leading engineering and manufacturing business based in Darley Dale, Matlock, who are looking to recruit an experienced Acid Etching professional to join their Operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced EN4179/NAS410 Level III professional to take technical responsibility for Acid Etch inspection processes, while also playing a key role in the qualification, certification, training and development of inspection personnel.

The Role

As an Acid Etch Technician, you will act as the company's technical authority for the Etch qualification and certification process, providing technical supervision and ensuring inspection activities comply with relevant customer, industry and internal standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking technical responsibility for the Acid Etch facility, equipment and personnel.
  • Interpreting relevant codes, standards, specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Reviewing customer requirements and incorporating them into company procedures and work instructions.
  • Developing, reviewing, approving and continuously improving Acid Etch procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensuring calibration and inspection procedures remain compliant with current requirements.
  • Providing technical support to production and acting as a point of contact for customer-related product and inspection concerns.
  • Selecting and implementing appropriate Etch inspection methods and techniques.
  • Providing and directing training, examinations and certification of Level I and Level II personnel.
  • Determining the competency and proficiency of candidates for Level I and Level II certification.
  • Conducting annual reviews and spot checks of Level I and Level II personnel.
  • Performing or delegating qualification and requalification activities.
  • Carrying out over-inspection of components where required.
  • Conducting annual audits of Etch systems using appropriate internal or NADCAP checklists.
  • Auditing sub-contract Etch suppliers to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Supporting supplier audits and identifying new suppliers where required.
  • Maintaining and developing test samples for practical examinations.
  • Identifying and implementing new technologies and improvements to increase the efficiency and accuracy of Etch inspection.
  • Carrying out Acid Etch, window polishing, macro and micro inspection activities as an operational Level II when required by the business.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • EN4179/NAS410 Level III certification in one or more Acid Etch methods.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Acid Etch inspection processes.
  • A thorough understanding of relevant codes, standards and customer specifications.
  • Experience within an aerospace, precision engineering or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience training, assessing and certifying NDT/inspection personnel.
  • Experience conducting audits and maintaining compliance within an inspection environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • The ability to provide technical support and confidently liaise with production teams, customers and suppliers.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process development.
