The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting The Openwork Group's adviser lifecycle strategy, helping to drive growth through the acquisition, integration and disposal of adviser firms. Working closely with the Head of Financial Reporting & Controls, you will provide financial expertise across the full transaction lifecycle, from financial due diligence and acquisition accounting through to post-deal integration and disposal activities. As the Group's subject matter expert for purchase price allocation (PPA) accounting, IFRS technical accounting and intangible asset valuations, you will deliver high-quality financial insights that support strategic decision-making and value creation across the business. This is a varied and highly visible role offering exposure to complex transactions, senior stakeholders and a dynamic growth agenda.

This is a hybrid role, based 3 days a week from our Swindon office.

  • Bonus scheme - on target bonus - 15%

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead purchase price allocation (PPA) accounting, intangible asset valuations and technical IFRS accounting for acquisitions, including goodwill impairment and complex consideration structures.
  • Support M&A activity through financial due diligence, risk assessment, accounting policy reviews and transaction execution.
  • Drive the financial integration of acquired businesses, ensuring alignment with Group accounting policies and reporting requirements.
  • Support Group reporting activities, including monthly consolidations, acquisition accounting adjustments and audit disclosures.
  • Assist with disposal activities, including sell-side due diligence, IFRS disposal accounting and assessment of financial impacts.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Finance and Strategic Investments to deliver high-quality financial insights that support value creation and strategic growth.

What will you need to succeed?

  • ACA or ACCA qualified with strong technical accounting expertise and knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 3, IFRS 5 and IFRS 10.
  • Proven experience supporting buy-side M&A transactions, including financial due diligence and purchase price allocation (PPA) accounting.
  • Strong understanding of acquisition accounting, valuations, goodwill, and the commercial drivers, risks and opportunities associated with acquisitions and disposals.
  • Experience within financial services or a regulated industry environment would be advantageous.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of commercial awareness, attention to detail and advanced Excel capability.
  • Organised, proactive and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced transaction environment.
