Active Wellbeing Lead (Armed Forces)
Location: Shropshire, Shrewsbury SY1 4RQ
Salary: £14.32 per hour plus excellent benefits
Schedule: 10 hours per week, fixed-term contract for 2 years. Occasional evening and weekend work required.

Delivering these services relies on an enthusiastic, customer-focused team, and they're now looking for an Active Wellbeing Lead (Armed Forces) to join their team and help make a positive difference every day.
In this rewarding role, you'll help strengthen connections between the leisure sector, local organisations, and the Armed Forces community across Shropshire. By leading activities, outreach initiatives and engagement opportunities for veterans, serving personnel and their families, you'll create a positive impact on communities, support healthier lifestyles, and help build an inclusive future where people feel connected, valued and supported.
What You’ll Do as an Active Wellbeing Lead (Armed Forces)
- Coordinate and support the delivery of activities and outreach programmes for the Armed Forces community and their families across Shropshire.
- Embed and promote the Armed Forces Covenant throughout the Trust and champion its principles with local health, voluntary and leisure sector partners.
- Oversee the delivery and growth of monthly veteran activity sessions, ensuring they remain engaging, accessible and impactful.
- Support the development and delivery of military family outreach events, including community engagement activities and annual festivals.
- Promote volunteering and work experience opportunities for veterans, helping create pathways for growth and development.
- Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and represent the Trust at relevant Armed Forces Covenant groups and community forums.

- Confident building trust and developing relationships with a wide range of partners, organisations and community groups.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate activities and events effectively.
- Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver against objectives.
- Full driving licence and access to transport to travel across the local area as required.

Vetting and Checks
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
