Job Description

Location: Sherborne House, 131 Sherborne Road

Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of older people?

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, creative, and organized Activity Coordinator to join our nursing home team.

You will play an important role in promoting the wellbeing, independence, social engagement, and quality of life of our residents by providing a varied programme of meaningful and enjoyable activities.

Hours

24 Hours Per Week - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday

About The Role

The Role

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Planning and coordinating a weekly programme of activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and individual needs.
  • Delivering a varied range of activities including arts and crafts, music, reminiscence, games, quizzes, exercise, entertainment, and seasonal events.
  • Organising one-to-one and group activities.
  • Encouraging residents to participate while respecting their individual choices and preferences.
  • Organising outings, trips, entertainers, community visits, and special events.
  • Developing activities that support residents living with dementia and those with complex care needs.
  • Getting to know residents and incorporating their hobbies, interests, life stories, and previous occupations into the activity programme.
  • Working closely with care staff, residents, and relatives to identify meaningful activities.
  • Maintaining appropriate records of activities and resident participation.
  • Promoting activities throughout the home and encouraging residents and families to get involved.
  • Keeping activity records and other documentation folders up to date.
  • Holding resident and relative meetings periodically

Previous experience working in a care home, nursing home, healthcare, or activity's role is desirable. However, we will consider applicants who can demonstrate the right attitude, creativity, organisational skills, and genuine passion for working with older people.

All successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS.

N.B. The pay for this role meets the national minimum wage for over 21s.

Altogether care is a family-run care provider established in 1988, where we have been serving our local communities across the South and Southwest for over 35 Years!
