NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring individual to join the Older People & Stroke Service at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Ward 55.

The post holder will assist the team in delivering care and organising structured, meaningful and therapeutic activities to support the rehabilitation of patients. You will assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of patients’ social and leisure activities and organise and participate, alongside the wider team, in therapeutic leisure activities on both a group and one-to-one basis.

You should have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work effectively in a busy environment. You will assist patients with activities of daily living and support the Registered Nurse and, where appropriate, other members of the clinical team in delivering patient care. You will work cooperatively with other disciplines involved in the care and treatment of service users to maximise patient care and maintain positive working relationships. You will also demonstrate an empathetic approach to patients, carers and relatives, referring any questions regarding a patient’s condition, suggestions or concerns to a trained nurse.

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

This is a full-time, 36 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. Working hours can be discussed and agreed to meet ward and patient requirements. You will be based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Older People & Stroke Service, Ward 55.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
