Activity Coordinator
Salary: £32,000
Contract: Permanent
Location: South Midlands - covering Buckinghamshire, South Midlands, Leicester, and Rutland
The Role
As an Activity Coordinator, you will design and deliver engaging, inclusive, and employment-focused activities for young people aged 18–24. You will create opportunities that build confidence, resilience, transferable skills, and workplace awareness, using a range of activities including sport, creative arts, technology, gaming, outdoor activities, and community projects.
Working closely with Mentors, employers, and community partners, you will ensure activities are purposeful, accessible, and linked to each participant’s progression towards employment, education, or training.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, inclusive activities that build confidence, employability, transferable skills, and workplace awareness.
- Plan sessions with clear objectives, resources, and appropriate adjustments to meet varied participant needs.
- Use creative, digital, sporting, outdoor, and community-based activities to engage young people and support personal development.
- Work closely with Mentors to align activities with participant action plans, progression goals, and individual support needs.
- Develop practical employability opportunities including employer talks, workplace visits, careers activities, mock recruitment, volunteering, and project-based learning.
- Coordinate external partners, venues, schedules, resources, and participant communications, ensuring activities are accessible and well organized.
- Promote participation, follow up non-attendance, and take action to maintain engagement.
- Build effective relationships with community, education, specialist, and employer partners to widen participation and progression opportunities.
- Create safe, respectful, and inclusive environments, managing group dynamics and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, disclosures, and challenging behavior.
- Complete required risk assessments, incident records, and safeguarding documentation, maintaining accurate and audit-ready participant and activity records.
- Monitor attendance, engagement, feedback, and outcomes, using information to evaluate and continuously improve the activity offer.
- Support participants to progress into mentoring, training, work experience, interviews, education, or employment.
- Manage activity resources and agreed budgets responsibly, ensuring value for money and safe use of equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of youth employment, local labor markets, and relevant support available to young people.
- Work flexibly across locations and, where required, outside standard hours to meet participant and programme needs.

- Experience planning and delivering engaging activities for young people or young adults, particularly those facing barriers to education or employment.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage participants while maintaining clear boundaries.
- Ability to turn creative, recreational, or practical activities into meaningful employability and personal-development opportunities.
- Experience in youth work, employability, education, community development, careers, coaching, or similar services.
- Understanding of safeguarding, equality, inclusion, accessibility, health and safety, risk assessment, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Ability to manage group dynamics, challenging behavior, and sensitive situations appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate venues, partners, activities, resources, and competing priorities.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, digital tools, and electronic record keeping.
- Knowledge of local community provision, training, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities is desirable.
- A relevant qualification or first-aid qualification would be advantageous.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly across the local area and work flexibly to meet participant and programme needs.
- Commitment to participant voice, inclusion, and high-quality customer service.
- Willingness to complete required training and appropriate checks, including DBS where required.
