What you'll bring to the team
We are looking for Actors to be part of the scariest and funniest journey through York’s most perilous past as one of our many infamous characters at York Dungeon.
You could find yourself tackling the role of The Torturer, a warrior from Viking Age York and a Witch, amongst others.
There’s a variety of characters to sink your teeth into. Each character delivers a short, scripted show, which is crafted to be interactive with our guests.
As well as maintaining strong characterisation throughout each show, you’ll also be operating and controlling special effects during your performance, to enhance the whole experience. At peak times, you’ll be performing shows every 8 to 10 minutes and as this is a dungeon after all, you’ll be working in dark, somewhat confined spaces.
These roles are seasonal with a minimum guaranteed hours of 5 per week. Our seasonal roles will start from Tuesday 15th September 2026 through to Tuesday 10th November 2026 (with possible extensions thereafter).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
