What this role is all about:
We are looking for an Actuarial Manager to join the Life Valuations team, playing a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, valuation analysis, and business insight. Working within Vitality Life's actuarial function, this position will be responsible for supporting critical reporting activities across IFRS and Embedded Value frameworks, providing robust analysis that helps shape business performance and strategic decision-making. The role offers the opportunity to apply advanced actuarial expertise, contribute to the development of valuation models, and collaborate closely with stakeholders across the business within a growing and innovative life insurance environment.
Key Actions
- Lead the quarterly calculation and reconciliation of IFRS reserves, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across the business
- Deliver Embedded Value reporting activities including the calculation of VIF and VNB to support financial performance assessment
- Analyse movements in IFRS reserves and Embedded Value results, identifying key drivers and providing meaningful business insight
- Perform IFRS and EV sensitivity testing to assess financial impacts and support informed decision making
- Provide detailed P&L and balance sheet analysis, forecasting outcomes, and highlighting trends affecting business performance
- Produce margin build-up analysis and contribute actuarial expertise to the development of five-year budget projections
- Prepare comprehensive reporting for Actuarial Committee meetings and present findings to support governance and oversight requirements
- Build effective working relationships with auditors, providing robust analysis, explanations, and supporting documentation throughout the audit process
- Support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Prophet valuation models to ensure accurate and reliable reporting outputs
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, translating complex actuarial information into clear and actionable recommendations

What do you need to thrive?
- Qualified Fellow or nearly qualified member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent
- Strong experience delivering actuarial valuation and financial reporting within a life insurance environment
- Proven experience of IFRS reporting with strong knowledge of IFRS17 requirements
- Advanced actuarial modelling capability including model development, validation, and assumption setting
- Experience analysing financial results and communicating complex technical findings to stakeholders
- Ability to work independently whilst managing multiple reporting deadlines and priorities
- Strong stakeholder management skills with experience supporting governance committees and audit requirements
- High levels of analytical thinking, judgement, and problem-solving within complex business environments
- Experience using Prophet and knowledge of SQL, R, Power BI, or Embedded Value reporting would be advantageous
