Pensions Actuary | Birchmoor | Remote (North of England)
Zatori is delighted to partner with Birchmoor, a specialist pensions consultancy and independent trustee firm that advises sponsors and acts as a trustee of pension schemes across the UK.
Founded by experienced pensions professionals Jon and Ruth Sharp, Birchmoor provides independent trusteeship and bespoke advice to sponsors on the full range of pensions issues. Their approach is deliberately personal, pragmatic and relationship-led, helping clients focus on the issues that genuinely move the needle.
Birchmoor has recently taken on nine new clients, spanning a mix of Independent Trustee and Corporate Advice appointments.
These new appointments bring with them a genuinely varied range of long-term projects, including considering and implementing insurance solutions, supporting scheme funding and investment strategy, and advising around corporate transactions. The clients themselves are equally diverse, ranging from family-owned manufacturing businesses through to charitable organisations.
As a result of this continued growth, Birchmoor is now looking to appoint a Qualified Pensions Actuary on a full-time basis.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
