Come anticipato da The Verge, il re dei social network sta pianificando un’azione di rebranding, che include un nuovo nome. Si avrà conferma il 28 ottobre quando l’amministratore delegato e fondatore, Mark Zuckerberg, dovrebbe discutere il cambio di nome alla conferenza Connect.

Nessuna conferma, o smentita, per ora dalla compagnia, ma ciò che emerge è la prossima creazione di un metaverso, avveniristica sfida su cui l’azienda investirà molte risorse nei prossimi anni. Questo mondo virtuale interamente connesso con il mondo reale deriva da un’idea di Neal Stephenson, nel romanzo “Snow Crash” che anticipa un mondo in cui tutti gli utenti vivono delle esperienze multimediali attraverso i loro avatar.
