Job Description – Additive Manufacturing Specialist
Location: Coventry
Experience: 8–12 years
Role Purpose
To support additive manufacturing operations by operating 3D printing equipment, managing build workflows, completing post-processing activities, conducting quality checks, and maintaining production records using manufacturing software systems.
Key Responsibilities
Additive Manufacturing Operations
- Operate AM equipment and monitor machine status, queues, and fault codes.
- Load/unload builds and change material canisters and machine consumables.
- Replace AM-specific hardware such as tips, heads, and related components.
- Report machine and build issues as required.
Post-Processing
- Operate equipment including:
- HP Post Processing Station
- Bead Blaster
- Hot Soak Tanks
- UV Curing Chambers
- Curing Ovens
- Water Jet Cleaners
- Complete post-processing activities in line with safety and operating procedures.

Manual Finishing & Assembly
- Remove support material and excess powder from AM components.
- Use hand tools and ultrasonic cutters for component finishing.
- Carry out sanding, bonding, mechanical assembly, and installation of inserts, spacers, and fasteners.
- Complete secondary assembly operations to required quality standards.
MES & Quality Management
- Use Manufacturing Execution System software to manage workload and update job status.
- Monitor production priorities and track job progress.
- Complete visual quality inspections and record non-conformances.
- Report failed builds and close completed work orders.

Essential Requirements
- Experience operating Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing equipment.
- Knowledge of FDM, MJF, SLA, DLP, and PolyJet technologies.
- Experience with post-processing and finishing techniques.
- Ability to use hand tools and interpret technical instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
This role is suitable for a hands-on Additive Manufacturing Technician with experience across AM production, post-processing, quality inspection, and manufacturing software systems.
