Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship

The Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship will equip you with the practical skills, core knowledge, and professional behaviours needed to manage business operations efficiently, develop high-quality administration skills, and work as part of a warm and friendly team.

Wage: £25,272 a year

Training Course: Business administrator (level 3)

Hours: Full time - 37.5 hours per week (Saturday working on a rota basis, with enhanced pay and a day of in lieu).

Start Date: Friday 11 December 2026

Duration: 1 year 6 months

What you'll do at work

The Apprentice Administrative Assistant role, the apprentice will:

  • Answer telephone calls and emails and deal with enquiries
  • Manage documents, records, and confidential information
  • Use Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and administrative systems
  • Process and check data and laboratory requests
  • Organise and prioritise their workload and deadlines
  • Help with audits, reports, and compliance information
  • Support meetings, events, and projects
  • Work with colleagues and other organisations to provide an effective service
  • Follow Trust policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Develop their administration skills while working towards the Level 3 Business Administrator qualification

What you'll learn

Course Contents

Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to:

  • Write letters or emails
  • Create proposals
  • Perform financial processes
  • Record and analyse data

Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem. Able to update and review databases, record information, and produce data analysis where required.

Produces accurate records and documents including:

  • Emails
  • Letters
  • Files
  • Payments
  • Reports and proposals

Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management. Drafts correspondence, writes reports, and able to review others' work. Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures. Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.

Makes suggestions for improvements to working practice, showing understanding of implications beyond the immediate environment (e.g. impact on clients, suppliers, other parts of the organisation). Manages resources e.g. equipment or facilities. Organises meetings and events, takes minutes during meetings, and creates action logs as appropriate. Takes responsibility for logistics e.g. travel and accommodation.

Uses relevant project management principles and tools to scope, plan, monitor, and report. Plans required resources to successfully deliver projects. Undertakes and leads projects as and when required.

Training Schedule

Your first day of Apprenticeship induction at MFT will take place on our Oxford Road Campus (ORC) in the City Centre. You will attend a session once a month virtually or face-to-face for training session with the delivery team for a further 14 months.
