How do you fancy being at the heart of a busy bus depot, helping keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes?
We are looking for an Administration Clerk to join our Walkergate depot team, working a 20 hour week across 3 days. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
This is very much a 'sleeves up' role. One minute you could be updating records or preparing reports, and the next supporting depot colleagues with queries or assisting with operational administration.
There's just a couple of 'must-haves' from our perspective...
- You'll be highly organised, have excellent attention to detail and be comfortable managing multiple tasks in a busy office environment.
- You'll be confident working with information, maintaining accurate records and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Good communication skills are essential, as you'll be working with colleagues across the depot and supporting both operational and engineering teams. You'll be approachable, professional and able to handle confidential information appropriately.
Ideally, you'll already have experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook, alongside experience of working in an administrative or customer-focused role. Experience within a transport, logistics or operational environment would be beneficial, but most importantly we're looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong organisational skills and a willingness to learn.
