Shinewater School is looking to appoint a warm and efficient School Administrative Assistant to join our office team and serve as the welcoming face of our school.

We are looking for someone who can combine administrative skills with kindness, confidence, and empathy with our children and families. This post is a front-facing role and the successful candidate will be answering the phone, greeting visitors and parents, sending and replying to emails, and generally helping with any other reasonable administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of the school. The post will also involve day-to-day interaction with children in a busy and varied environment.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, able to multi-task, work under pressure, and prioritise work in a busy office environment. The ability to work using their own initiative and be an effective team member is essential. Prior experience of working in a school environment and with school systems, such as Bromcom and Google Docs, is preferred.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
