The Canons C of E (Voluntary Aided) Primary School

The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic team member to join our busy school office team. You are required to have relevant clerical knowledge of using Microsoft Office based software, i.e., Word, Excel. This role will involve working in the school reception being the first point of call for all visitors and parents. Excellent literacy and numerical skills are a requirement of this role.

On a daily basis, the role requires you to deal with colleagues, customers, health professionals, and the public, either face to face or over the telephone, so it is important you have a courteous, professional manner. Excellent customer service and communication skills as well as previous experience in administration, including reception work, are also a key requirement for the role. Experience of working in a school setting, so knowledge of SIMs, FMS, ParentMail, etc., is desirable, but not essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
