Location: Cambridge Science Park (On-site)
Hours
Approximately 22.5 hours per week, worked across 5 days (hours negotiable)
Role Purpose
To provide reception, administrative and purchasing support to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Cambridge office and laboratory. The role acts as the first point of contact for employees, visitors, suppliers and contractors and is critical in maintaining efficient administrative processes and purchasing activities.
Key Responsibilities
Office & Administrative Support 50%
- Provide front-of-house support, including answering calls, welcoming visitors and managing visitor access.
- Coordinate reception activities, post, couriers, deliveries, shipping requirements and taxis.
- Maintain stocks of office, kitchen and workplace supplies.
- Process administrative requests and maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Provide general administrative support across the laboratory.

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination 40%
- Review and authorise purchase orders, checking details for accuracy.
- Issue approved purchase orders to suppliers.
- Process goods receipts and maintain associated GR records within Sage.
- Liaise with suppliers and researchers to resolve purchasing queries.
- Monitor outstanding orders and follow up where required.

Reporting & Administrative Support 10%
- Assist with operational reporting and record keeping.
- Support company events and employee activities as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous administration, office coordinator, purchasing or similar experience.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Desirable
- Experience using Sage or similar purchasing systems.
- Experience supporting a scientific, technical or laboratory environment.
