Job Overview
The Children’s Feeding and Dietetic Service is looking for a part time (0.58wte = 21.75hrs/ week) Band 3 Administrative Assistant with experience in using NHS System (in particular Systm One) to support the service on a Monday, Thursday and Friday.
The Children’s Feeding and Dietetic service supports children and their families with a range of different feeding concerns across the Mid and South Essex region. These may include children needing support with cows milk allergy, tube feeding, nutrition support, food allergies, coeliac disease, fussy eaters / limited diets and nutritional deficiencies.
Main duties of the job
This Administrative Assistant role is a job share and supports the flow of information to the wider team and as such requires a flexible and resourceful person who works well in a team environment.
The role includes administrative tasks such as registering referrals, sending appointments, typing reports, maintaining waiting lists and emails, scanning, managing stationery needs and ordering equipment, supporting the running of the building etc. Whilst often being the first point of contact for families attending our clinics or making contact with the service.
The service has a caseload of over 1200 children and typically receives over 2000 referrals a year.

The post holder will be responsible for managing their own workload, prioritising tasks effectively, and ensuring deadlines are met. They will be expected to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to high standards. The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement Fringe (Basildon, Thurrock, Brentwood, Harlow and Dartford only)
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,303 to a maximum of £2,198 p.a. pro rata for part time)
