Dorset Healthcare Administrative Assistant Opportunity
Dorset Healthcare are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and those driven to provide an outstanding service and are looking for an experienced Administrative Assistant to join our administrative team at Bournemouth Older Persons Community Mental Health Team.
You will be fully supported by an experienced Team Leader, be provided with all the training and tools you need to be a success in this role. You will have regular supervision, yearly appraisals and the opportunities to be creative and put your ideas forward, embedding ethos of continuous improvement.
You will need to be flexible to manage the workload of this busy Community Mental Health Team. We adopt and ensure our Trusts values are incorporated in everything we do, by providing a patient-centred approach with their recovery and wellbeing at the foremost of our care.
Working Hours
The working pattern is 5 days a week from 08:30 until 17:00 with an hour for lunch.
Requirements
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.

Responsibilities
- Provide efficient secretarial, administrative and reception support for the team.
- Liaise with members of the public and a variety of professionals, both in primary and secondary care services.
- Complete clinical correspondence and dictation, manage onward referrals, and attend meetings as a minute taker.
- Keep RIO the Trusts patient record system up to date, following data protection and GDPR legislation.
Skills and Qualifications
- Solid administrative background or experience as a secretary.
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
- Understanding of Office 365 including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Outstanding telephone manner and excellent communication skills to deal with difficult patients.
- Intermediate level of audio typing skills.
- Organised, self-motivated, able to work to deadlines and complete tasks with high accuracy and attention to detail.
