Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced administrator who is proactive and able to navigate competing priorities with a problem solving mindset to join the Major Crime Investigation Team. You will be a confident communicator, taking ownership of challenges and be able to use your initiative to identify solutions.

The Brunel Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) is a regional collaboration between Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, and Avon and Somerset Major Crime Teams. We are responsible for investigating murder and other homicides, bringing offenders to justice and striving to provide the highest level of service and support to families and the wider public. The Brunel Collaboration was created to offer greater resilience in the response to Homicide and Major Crime, sharing resources and offering cross border assistance when needed. You will be providing assistance to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) across the Collaboration, working together to ensure the effective response and investigation of Major Crime.

You will play an active part in the day to day running of the Major Incident Room. Working in a fast paced environment with a swift response to crimes being key to bringing offenders to justice. The smooth running of the department and delivery of the key administrative duties are essential to the day to day business of the team. You will need to be self-motivated to be able to independently manage your workload as well as engage effectively with colleagues at all levels including senior leaders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
