We are excited to introduce a brand-new opportunity within our Manchester Clinical Negligence team. This role has been created to provide leadership and coordination across our Practice Support function, ensuring our administrative processes run efficiently and that our Legal Assistants are supported to deliver an excellent service.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced administrator, team coordinator or Legal Assistant with strong organisational and people skills who enjoys managing workflows, improving processes and supporting others to succeed.

Working closely with the Clinical Negligence leadership team, you will oversee a team of Legal Assistants, helping to allocate work, monitor service standards, provide day-to-day guidance and support the development of the team. While an understanding of legal administration would be beneficial, a legal background is not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of leading administrative teams, coordinating busy workloads and delivering high levels of customer service who can bring strong organisational and people leadership skills to the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day activities of the Legal Assistant team.
  • Manage workflow allocation and ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Act as the first point of contact for operational and administrative queries.
  • Support the training, development and onboarding of team members.
  • Monitor service levels, processes and administrative standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ways of working and team effectiveness.
  • Build strong relationships with fee earners and stakeholders across the department.
  • Remain involved in administrative tasks while supporting and leading the wider team.
  • Support the Team Leader and Practice Manager with telephony supervision, reporting and performance monitoring, ensuring service standards and call handling expectations are maintained across the team.
  • Act as a point of support for telephony-related queries and help promote effective use of the firm's telephony systems and processes.

About You

  • Previous experience in an administrative, team coordinator, practice support or supervisory role.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Experience managing competing demands and allocating workloads.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Experience using telephony or contact centre systems, with the ability to interpret performance data and support operational reporting.
  • Confidence in monitoring service standards, identifying trends and providing feedback to support team performance and development.
  • An interest in supporting a legal team, although previous legal sector experience is not required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
