Cathedral Appointments is recruiting on behalf of an established, family-run financial planning firm based in Chudleigh, with over 100 years of experience supporting clients across the South West with mortgages, protection, pensions, retirement and investment planning. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Services Administrator to develop their career across mortgages, protection and wealth management, within a close-knit and friendly team.
The Role
As Financial Services Administrator, you will take ownership of an established mortgage book, support new mortgage and protection business, and provide wider back-office support across the financial planning business. This role would suit someone with a strong understanding of mortgage and protection products, who is highly organised, able to manage multiple cases and deadlines, and comfortable working independently using their own initiative. Experience or qualifications in mortgages and protection would be an advantage.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
