3 Month Contract With A Local Authority

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality administrative and business support services within the Children's Placements Team and wider Children's Services Commissioning Hub, ensuring the service meets its statutory obligations and delivers timely, effective support to children, young people, families and carers.

The postholder will undertake a wide range of administrative duties, support service projects and process improvements, maintain accurate records, and assist in the delivery of key commissioning and placement functions. The role will play a key part in supporting the implementation of new service processes, including the administration of financial arrangements for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Children's Placements Team and Commissioning Hub.
  • Undertake a range of business support activities to support Children's Social Care functions.
  • Support the implementation and administration of new service processes and projects.
  • Assist with the administration of payments and financial processes relating to children and young people's savings accounts and other service initiatives.
  • Prepare, format and maintain correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, presentations and other documentation.
  • Organise meetings, appointments and events, including diary management and room bookings.
  • Take accurate minutes and distribute meeting documentation.
  • Manage incoming enquiries by telephone, email and correspondence, ensuring timely responses and appropriate escalation where required.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and manual filing systems, databases and records.
  • Collate, monitor and present service performance data and management information.
  • Support project work through information gathering, research and administrative coordination.
  • Liaise with partner agencies, service providers and stakeholders to support service delivery.
  • Assist in maintaining financial and administrative systems.
  • Process and monitor documentation in accordance with service procedures.
  • Support service users and partner agencies to access services effectively.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained when handling sensitive information relating to children and families.
  • Operate office equipment and IT systems to support day-to-day service delivery.
  • Contribute to service improvements and process reviews.
  • Comply with safeguarding, data protection, health and safety and corporate policies at all times.

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience working in an administrative or business support role.
  • Experience working within Children's Services, Social Care, Education or a similar environment.
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Office applications, including:
    • Word
    • Excel
    • Outlook
    • PowerPoint
  • Experience maintaining databases, records and filing systems.
  • Experience organising meetings, taking minutes and managing correspondence.
  • Experience producing reports, spreadsheets and administrative documentation.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise competing workloads.
  • Good numerical and data handling skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Educated to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a Children's Placements Team, Children's Social Care or Commissioning environment.
  • Experience supporting projects or service improvement initiatives.
  • Experience administering financial processes and payments.
  • ECDL or equivalent IT qualification.
  • Experience working with social care case management systems.

  • Location: Worcester - Hybrid Working (1 Day Office / 4 Days Remote)
  • Hours Per Week: 35 Hours
  • Payment Frequency: Bi-Weekly Payments
