About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide general administration duties including Reception and making appointments via a central booking line (net call). Knowledge and experience of using databases and data inputting is desirable, but training will be given. Experience in the use of IT packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative, IT, and clerical support for all staff within the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Integrated Sexual Health Service.
- Serve as the first point of contact on reception to meet, greet, and register patients.
- Take calls for bookings, cancellations, and changes to appointments on the centralised booking system net call.
- Work flexibly within a team, providing support to colleagues, the multidisciplinary team, and cover for other administrative and clerical staff when required, on a shared basis.
- Present a user-friendly and accessible service for the public.
- Deal with reception and telephone enquiries effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications and Skills
Successful candidates should possess:
- A good general education (GCSE’s grades A-C).
- Excellent keyboard and word processing skills (ECDL/RSA2).
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- Empathy and understanding when dealing with patients.
Hours and Location
- Full and part-time hours will be considered.
- The service operates Monday to Saturday, and you may be required to work between 8am and 7.30 pm depending on the needs of the service.
- We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck, and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country.
