Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours including evenings and weekends as required
Worker Type: Hybrid Worker
Salary: Starting Salary is £46,142 (Level one) rising to £49,282 (Level four) per annum (pro rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)
Location: Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham NG2 3NG (with city-wide working)

Nottingham Children’s Services are at a critical point in our transformation journey. We are transforming our approach to delivering early help, we have taken on board learning from recent inspections and the national Care Review and are focused on embedding continuous improvement across our services.
About The Role
As Adolescence Supervisor you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of early help support services for vulnerable children, young people and families with a range of complex problems, including social, emotional and behavioural needs, and children subject to Child Protection, Child in Need, Youth Justice and TAF Plans. You will be responsible for the direct work and case supervision of Adolescence Family Help Workers and Adolescent Youth Development Workers to ensure high standards of practice in safeguarding, management of risk, and the use of effective interventions and parenting programmes to support children, young people and families.
You will lead the delivery of high-quality services and provide reflective case supervision and expertise to colleagues to develop excellent evidence-based practice. You will support and advise on the team’s case work and work innovatively and collaboratively with partner services to reduce the level of need and risk to enable them to be met within universal settings.

As part of Nottingham's developing youth offer, you will work across a range of services and community settings, helping to shape provision that responds to local need and supports young people to thrive.
This is an exciting leadership role at the heart of Nottingham City's developing youth offer, with responsibility for line managing and inspiring a team of approximately 12 staff, made up of around 6 Youth Work Apprentices and 6 Youth Development Workers.
You will play a key role in building a confident, skilled and ambitious workforce, supporting apprentices to grow into the profession while enabling experienced Youth Development Workers to deliver high-quality, creative and impactful support for young people across the city.
Through strong supervision, coaching and day-to-day leadership, you will help shape a positive team culture where staff feel supported, challenged and motivated to make a real difference for children, young people and families in Nottingham.
About You
You will be an experienced practitioner and leader with a passion for improving outcomes for children, young people and families. You will have strong safeguarding knowledge, experience of developing others and a commitment to delivering high-quality services.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A degree-level qualification in a relevant children’s service discipline, with priority given to Youth Work / Youth Justice and Social Work; other relevant areas may include Education or Health
- Substantial experience as a supervisor or manager (minimum 2 years in supervisor role or equivalent) in a relevant children service and knowledge and experience of current legislation, issues and good practice in respect of children, young people and families
- At least two years’ experience of delivering effective evidence-based interventions that support children and families who have complex, extensive and challenging needs
- Experience of developing and motivating others to ensure continual improvement in performance and practice
- Experience of delivering high quality family support provision and adjusting services to respond to the needs of users
- Significant experience of implementing best practice in case supervision and achieving improvement in performance
- Strong understanding and practical experience of the case management process (including assessment, analysis, planning, intervention and review) and how it promotes good outcomes for children and families
- Sound knowledge and understanding of legislation, policies and practice guidance relating to children and families and its application to practice
- Extensive knowledge of child development from early years to adolescence and how this affects levels of need, and the support required
- Sophisticated understanding and demonstrable experience of all aspects of safeguarding and management of risk to children and young people as they relate to the work of the team outlined in the Job Purpose
- Sophisticated understanding of diversity issues and how they impact on delivery of effective services affect a diverse range of service users, partners, stakeholders and colleagues
- Significant experience of handling conflict and managing sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes
- A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
- The role requires you to participate in the on-call rota.
